This week is the week — the 54th annual Denver Greek Festival is finally upon us. If this is your first time, you probably don’t know what to expect. Well, you’re in luck, because this post is for you. Here’s what you can expect at the 2019 Denver Greek Festival.
The Denver Greek Festival features over 25 authentic Greek dishes, including some of your favorites—gyros, calamari, and baklava. But don’t just limit yourself; there is a whole world of dishes that you can try. We recommend the saganaki (fried cheese), loukoumades, and an iced-cold frappe. Let’s not forget dessert! We offer a full selection of Greek pastries for you to sample. Can’t decide? Get the lowdown on our offerings here.
Our Greek Festival is nothing without the variety of entertainment it offers throughout the weekend. From Greek dancing to live music from a Greek band to a choir concert, you are for sure going to get your fill of entertainment. Plus, we offer cooking demos to learn how to make your favorite Greek dishes. What could be better than that? Check out our full entertainment offerings here.
Much of the Greek culture is rooted in the Greek Orthodox religion. See where it all began by taking an informational tour of the church, the Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral, while you are at the festival. Tours are daily throughout the weekend, Friday & Saturday from 12-8 pm, and Sunday from 12-5 pm. Don’t forget to catch the choir concert in the church – Saturday at 3 pm and Sunday at 1 pm.
Our Greek boutique offers a unique selection of jewelry, clothing, art and more that are inspired by and imported from Greece. Vendors can be found in the community center and outside under the tents near the stage and the bar. We are also selling our community cookbook, Festival of Greek Flavors, for purchase so you can take the flavors of Greece home with you.
The Denver Greek Festival is open until 11 pm both Friday and Saturday. The evening kicks off with our “Night Show Extravaganza”, where our dancers put on their most lively shows of the day. Full of tricks and excitement, this is not one to miss. Grab a drink at the bar (preferably an ouzo shot!) and join us at the stage. But, the party doesn’t stop when the dancing stops; try your hand at Greek dancing by joining us on stage at the end of the night.
You don’t want to miss anything that the Denver Greek Festival has to offer this year! Come on down this weekend, starting at 11 am on Friday for tons of food, dancing, and fun!
